Emmett L. Jones, Ph.D. & Associates recognizes the value of Coaching resources for people during, after or independent from the therapy experience. The concept of Coaching has been a rising and upcoming field since the 1960’s. In the Coaching relationship, individuals can partner with a Life Coach to:
- Establish personal goals in a specific area of life
- Develop strategies for achieving personal goals
- Identify blind spots and blocks hindering personal success
- Receive inspiration and support for achievements
- Encourage proactivity and an organized approach to goals
- Learn to encourage themselves and articulate their own needs
- Achieve results!
A Life Coach’s function is to walk beside the client, pose challenging questions and help the client to find their own path to reach their established goal. For instance, a person may seek out a Life Coach who specializes in Spiritual Development (Spiritual Development) to develop a path to a deeper relationship with God. The client would then meet with the Coach by phone or in person and explain their current situation and identify his/her goal. By listening to the client, the Coach would help to identify the blocks in the client's path. The Coach's role is to then help the client develop a plan for reaching their goal in manageable steps. The Coach would be available for phone appointments and emails as needed by the client.

Tom Zahler is an image and personal effectiveness consultant to Fortune 500 company executives, researchers and marketing teams. He was awarded a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology in 1985 and for the next 13 years provided mental health services, conducted clinical research, and taught on both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He eventually developed an interest in applying his clinical experience to helping others become more productive in both their personal and professional lives. His primary area of interest is in how to increase productivity and effectiveness by improving how we communicate with others. This involves learning how we create the perceptions that others have of us both personally and professionally. These perceptions influence how people interact with us, and play a large part in our successes and failures. Tom believes that it is possible to create positive perceptions of competence, credibility, and confidence, by assessing and modifying the messages we send through our words, our appearance and our behaviors. The following elements serve as the foundation of Tom’s approach with his clients.
- resource management (your time and your talents)
- planning and organization (all areas of your life - professional, personal, family, financial, health, etc.)
- project management (following through, getting things done), and
- discovering your purpose (spiritual development)
